Tournaments Update
Comments(98) For those of you that are looking for an update, we are still working on the tournaments due to some delays with the software. These will be multi-table tournaments where as each table completes, players are automatically transported to the next table until the final table plays. These tournaments will also support satellites, so if you win in week 1 you get automatic entry into the next tournament. This is how we’ll decide who gets to enter the monthly Champion of Poker Underworld tournament.
Once they are complete, we’ll also be launching tournaments for prizes which you use tournament credits to enter. This will give you a chance to earn either cash, gift certificates or prizes.
I’m sorry for the delay, but there’s a lot of work that is going into these new features, and we have to make sure they all work properly.
Also, in regards to comments and suggestions. I really appreciate all of the suggestions, and they seem to be coming in from all points of view. I have been very clear in the past that my goal is to focus on real poker, and not “all in” and “no fold” style games. I am also not interested in building a game where balances climb higher and higher endlessly at such a fast and unrealistic pace. That being said, I brought back the old rules in order to give everyone on Poker Underworld the opportunity to play the style they like while we work on new improvements. I agree that the balances are skewed – you can’t compare the balance of somebody playing in SnG tournaments that pay out 150% to somebody who plays in the normal poker tables that take a rake of 5%. I would have preferred to keep the changes I made on November 1st to remove the extra 50% in SnG, but we’ll change them again when the timing is better.

That’s great to hear but in a nother thirty days it’ll just be that much further out of whack. I’ve gianed 75m since you the new server change and yet I’ve fallen eleven spots. I really don’t care about the rankings, I do care about this though. If you reduce by 10,000 like you stated, after a year of building my bankroll almost exclusively on the regular tables, I wouldn’t have enough chips to play on the 500k tables. How does that work? I’m not the only one affected in that way, lot’s of others are too.

DID YOU EVER CONSIDER THE EFFECT OF THE TOURNAMENTS PAYOUT (IN TERMS OF CHIPS COUNT FOR THE SITE) BEFORE SETTING THE PAYOUT AMOUNT? AT PRESENT, EACH TOURNAMENT TABLE IS PRODUCING 15MILLION CHIP PER HOUR (BASED ON 8 PLAYERS PLAYING). THATS A TOTAL OF 60MILLON CHIPS FROM THE 4 TABLES AND 1.44 BILLION A DAY. TRY MULTIPLE THAT BY 365 DAYS AND BY THIS TIME NEXT YEAR, ALL THE TOP 100 PLAYERS WILL BE HOLDING AT LEAST 5BILLION CHIPS. BY THAT TIME, I THINK PLAYERS WILL BE REQUESTING TABLE WITH 100MILION BUY-IN TO SATISFY THEIR CHIPS HUNGER BECAUSE WITH SO MANY BILLIONS CIRCULATING IN THE SITE, 500K IS JUST LIKE A GRAIN OF SAND IN A BEACH. Well i’ve gotta ask 1 more time because i really do think this could work…
For starters, quit concentratin on tourneys all the damn time!!! theyre the main reason this site is completely…well…errrm, how do i put this lightly…dying!!! (no offence but its 100% true!!)
Why dont ya try making the regular poker tables more attractive by increasing the buy ins there so that the competition may continue on some real poker rather than this “great grannies bingo” game thats happening on the tourneys…
I mean, still keep the winnings the same there so that the bingo can carry on among those who are addicted but hav the regular tables hav buy-ins of up to say…5mill, or maybe even more!
By doing this i believe that itll increase some real (as taxi calls it…) “A” game poker again because the tourney tables wont be so desireable AND it may also create an interesting leader board change.(Ok so 20-odd billion may be hard to beat but, atleast we cud get a little closer and in a much less time!! or just lose it all in like 10 hands!! lol)
So please, think this over because i believe that it wud make this site over 1000 times better!!

Honestly, Ive started to play some hand on regular 500K but I dont see how INCREASING the buy in will draw more attention or make it more competitive because a higher buy in would deter me away. For novices like myself, who may not be comfortable investing millions, we would have no place to play. If anything, DECREASING buy in would make me play more on regular games.
OK brookLYNN, let me try and spell this out a different way…
The reason why i really want to have raised buy ins is because quite frankly i feel people dont take the chips as seriously anymore…and by having larger buy-ins i reckon it wud make ppl bet more carefully because if they kept going all in with 5 million or whatever it cud be raised to… theyd soon be left with no bank!!
The other thing i wrote on my note about bringing in facebook players; means id get a load of ppl, or as many as i cud to come to this site and start anew so that ppl who are already unconfortable with large buy-ins like you for example cud join in with the other rookies and get to play some real poker with less chips involved.
To make a long story short, i really want more players ere AND bigger buy-ins…is that really wrong??

This has to rank at the top of all-time stupid arguments. I’ll start by asking this though, why is Terri fighting Brooky’s battles for him? He’s a punk and a coward is the reason. As far as anyone folding before he does Terri, it’s because they don’t EVER expect Brooky ot be honest because he never is. There is a reason why his chat has been revoked and that’s because he’s a vile piece of trash or do you think it’s something else?
As far as Brooky catching and passing Elvin in the rankings do you think ANYONE except Brooky himself would think it indicates that he’s a better player? He’s not and he never will be. I’ve been on this site for over a year now. I haven’t played with all of the players for sure
but I know this, of the regulars his play ranks near the very bottom. I’ve seen dozens of new players come on the site and improve dramatically, Hiten Kingson Kimoja Rocky Vicky Phuzz, just to name a few. Brooky just never improves. He still plays the same bet large until he scores game that he did a year ago. He’s not smart enough to get that it doesn’t work against good players. First Gene, Brooky is more than capable of handling his own affairs. I am not fighting anyones battles but my own. Elvin has taken issue with me and talking about me when im not on board. I have been attacked by the whole lot of them. Atleast tax and mattress know how to put some things behind them and keep the peace. As for folding, its a catch 22. It’s all about Brooky coming to the 500k no limit tables and going allin preflop hand after hand. You talk about harrassment and bullying while you constantly block the chats at tables where you and the goofball aren’t even playing. Then you threaten to ” hunt down ” your enemies, lol.
You whine about someone taking your picture and altering it to make it appear that you’re bald while that dope harrasses both men and women every day.
You threaten to contact some Public Service or Internet Commission and that would be absolutely the funniest thing of all. Unless of course you think they’ll overlook your threats of harrassment and your actual harrassment but even funnier would be you trying to explain to them that your dirtbag boyfriend only uses racism, sexual harrassment and threats, and threats to hunt down and kill people or anally violate both men and women because he feels a need to ” get an edge at poker”.
Lastly consider this, should anyone with the authority to investigate all of this nonsense actually do so, I’m sure your bosses at the lawfirm would be very interested in how you find the time all day to check on a poker website. Using their computer and their time, which you are obviously stealing from them, you harrass people, nice, lol. Lucky for us the hard drive in their computer can’t truly be erased, don’t you think? First Gene,what do you consider cheating? The folding on all in table? Why do you care – you dont even like all in. Or do you consider the all in on reg table cheating. I dont see any rules that disallow someone from going all in at the draw if they so choose. The unwritten rule with the all in table is that you’re not supposed to fold. Many a people, including Papaya, Getterdone, Mattress, Elvin (although he may choose not to admit it) and many of Evil’s other profiles have been on tourneys with Brooky going all in hand after hand. If he folds it is for a reason: either there was a fold the game prior or a fold first during the same game or there is trash talking about himself or me. Otherwise he goes all in when there are innocent respectable people on the board. If there is someone to get back at, yes that is different. So if you all leave us alone, that could solve the problem right there. But you are all too childish and testosterone levels off the roof that none of you can let go. But you come to all in table intentionally to fold just because brooky goes all in at reg table. Is that any better a reason to fold than someone trash-talking his girl. Is being on all in table in and of itself cheating? Well then you are calling Elvin, Papaya, Karmatime, Getterdone, IB, Booty, Evil, Mayor, Jmac, Mattress, Phuzzical (when she used to be here), Goldfinger etc. all cheaters. Or, do you possibly consider Elvin passing himself chips daily cheating, hmmm. Which one is the most cowardly? Elvin and Evil get just as Nasty and vulgar as Brooky. The thing is you all know Brooky cant chat so he never initiates any of this trash talk – all you guys provoke the situation so far that he needs to bring CarmelTreat out. Do you really expect either one of us to sit there and take it day after day. No, its over. Secondly, You dont give me second chances. I AM MYSELF and there are enough people who can see through their own eyes and be themselves and know I am a good person and a fair player. I cut chat because HU55 calls BOTH OF US NAMES. As for Evil, how can you say Brooky’s eating all the pies/chips when it is Elvin who has the most? Are you really so absent minded to target #2 for what he earns when there is a #1 above him. You said it yourself, you are all greedy – Elvin being the most because he is #1 and cheating by passing his own chips to stay there. Like you said, you are not letting someone take your chips – well that is exactly why he folds when someone fold before him. So why is he wrong and you are not? Back to Gene. As for posting chat logs – it is not to prove anything other than the real truth and to call people out and basically just to be annoying. I will be so overbearing will get so fed up, they will leave. How can you with a straight face judge one book by another cover. Neither one of us is racist. To be fair to the two people who seem to be involved in this controversty….example number1.Elvin is an honest person to me .I entrusted him with my details 12 months ago for him to make me up profile page with my music and pics..he did so and I have had no problems, so as far as I am concerned he is a good man. Example number 2..Brooky has always been fair to me and folded for me when there are not people in room who may cause deliberate problems.I have no problem with either man. please can we all move on and enjoy our poker….life is two short for such petty bitterness ..I feel sorry for Ryan who changed site thinking it would make players happier at great cost to him. It is late, I’ve read most of the comments in here, on who did this, who said that etc etc etc blah blah blah. But i must say, when you are on the receiving end of foul folding poker play, and when no other player has provoked the player to fold, it can be brought to one conclusion, they have an crappy hand, pure and simple, and that the folder has no thought of being a part of the social network in here, they don’t care, and don’t give a rats arse about others. Its very interesting to note, from what I have experienced, that the serial folder tends to become more prone to folding when Brooklyn is not in the room. This has been my personal experience. Anyway, I feel that I’ve contributed to this never ending circus of freaks and tiddle tatters enough. Stop this childish rubbish. Ryan, please trace all the way back through your logs and find the original serial folder, if its possible. May shut a few people up and enlighten some of them closeby.

It’s obvious that the site needs changing and the sooner the better. The first thing you need to do is lower the payouts on the allin tables back to 70/20/10. This would stop the crazy bankroll growth. It would also stop the inane bickering because no one would care.
Secondly you have to reduce the current bankrolls by 1:100. That is the simplest and fairest formula. Multiply everyones bankroll by 1% or .01.
The current leaders would then have bankrolls of approx. 250m and someone like me would be at arund 15m. That would stop the foolish allin preflop bets at the 500k no limit tables because weak players like Brooky and Ark would see how quickly their bankrolls would fall with no allin tables to replenish them.Good players will increase their bankrolls weak players will fall back. I must say though except for folding on the allin table yesterday Brooky has played more considerately on the regular tables for a few days now.
You should add four ” by invitation only ” tables with higher buyins. I think this would invite a high quality, high stakes feel to the site AND encourage strong play.
Lastly the site needs monitors. It absolutely has to have serious oversight by people who care more about the site than their own petty egos. Sites like AOL and Yahoo have had them and they worked out just fine. Most people would rise to the occasion. That oversight has to include the ability to remove players from the site for increasing amounts of time to deter poor behaviour
not poor play. Without that you may as well junk your efforts so far because there will always be selfish, silly people like Brooklyn that don’t mind being an inconvenience to the other players.
You’ll never build a quality membership if that is allowed. If you’d like I could suggest a roster of possible monitors to you.
Lastly to all that read this if you agree post a short post saying I agree or if you want to add something positive add that too. If you disagree, take the time to post your reasons AND a better suggestion.

As long as this continues so will the freezing of the chat, its not just rocky, but the rest, and you know who you are.
Theres women and children that come here and most of those are the ones that left because of this , not from what Ryan has done to the site.
People come here for fun and meet others not to sit and see all the nasty stuff being said and before you say it they like using chat so they dont need to have ryan remove from there account, just stop acting like little 8 year old school kids learning swear words and act like an adult and show some respect,untill then this site will go down and not because of what ryan has done.

As far as moderating I think the chat should be, chat ban the nasty ones for 24 to 48 hours and maybe then they will learn some respect and if it continues ban it for ever.
The way some talk to ryan I can see why he doesnt bother to answer.

One of the great things about this site is the bantering and teasing. Even the bickering is mostly funny and entertaining. Of course extreme language and harrassment needs to be stopped by somebody rational.
This is a great site in spite of a few bad people
but that doesn’t mean it can’t and shouldn’t be improved, even socially.

I think there should be a word filter set up so if you swear it bans you for 24 hours, that should stop some of the nasty comments made, since they have no respect for anyone including kids and ladys here.
